System requirements
Runs on what you already have.
Soltris runs on the workstations and the SQL Server your firm already has. One driver to install, one database to create, and no hardware to buy for AI.
Workstations.
- Operating system
- Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit. Windows 7 and 8 are not supported.
- Prerequisite
- Microsoft ODBC Driver 18 for SQL Server (x64), from Microsoft. This exact major version; Driver 17 or older does not satisfy it, and Soltris says so plainly on first launch if it is missing.
- Installation
- A code-signed installer, deployed per workstation by your IT. Soltris carries its own runtime; no separate Visual C++ Redistributable is required.
- Sign-in
- Your existing domain accounts. Each person is signed in as themselves from their Windows identity. No separate Soltris password, no login prompt.
- Hardware
- Any workstation your firm issues today. AI adds no hardware requirement; see below.
- Remote and virtual desktops
- Runs on Remote Desktop and virtual desktop session hosts: installed once per machine, with each person signed in under their own session identity. A per-workstation install is recommended for best performance, particularly with synced video.
The server.
- Database
- Microsoft SQL Server, any edition including Express. Tested against SQL Server 2022 and SQL Server Express.
- Authentication
- Windows authentication, by design. There is no SQL credential in any configuration file; access is granted and revoked with the same group membership your firm already manages.
- Operations
- One database, in your instance, covered by the backups, monitoring and controls your DBAs already run. Nothing new to operate.
AI hardware.
- Any provider
- No additional hardware. Any workstation that runs Soltris, plus outbound access to the one provider endpoint your firm configured.
What it reads and writes.
- Transcripts in
- Court reporter text transcripts and PTF files. Video depositions arrive as XMEF packages or MDB databases, each carrying the transcript with its video sync. PDF is accepted, but it is the last resort: when the reporter can supply the text transcript, use it.
- Work in
- Annotations and designations from CSV, mapped by column name, with duplicate handling. Filing names round-trip through CSV export and import.
- Out
- The Printed Transcript, reports to PDF and Excel, designation clips with MP3 audio, and CSV exports.
- Network
- No internet connection is required to run Soltris. Its one possible outbound connection is the AI provider your firm configured.
